My name is Anand Sagar Pathak. I was born in Maithon which is known for its beautiful Maithon Dam. Maithon is in the Dhanbad District of Jharkhand. I did my Schooling at De Nobili School in my home town and then moved to New Delhi for higher education. I did my B. Com (H) from Moti Lal Nehru College from the south campus. Thereafter, I successfully cleared the Company Secretary Inter examination. However, because of my soul calling, I joined Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan and did Jyotish Acharya from there. I was also a part of the research team when I joined Indiatimes as an astrologer. Thereafter, I have devoted myself solely to astrology and spiritual practice.

REASON FOR CHOOSING ASTROLOGY AS A CAREER
The thirst for knowledge was not over even after getting the degree of Jyotish Acharya and after being one of the favourite students of astrology in my batch. Somewhere I had a feeling that I am not doing justice to astrology since merely pointing out problems is not enough. I felt that my work is done only if I am able to help my consulters get rid of their problems by bringing faith and grace of God to them. This thirst for knowledge changed the basic direction of life and I started getting deeply involved in spiritual practices like control of mind, by Mantra, Sadhana and Tap.
Astrology has always been a profession much appreciated even by the kings. Earlier in India, there was the concept of Raj Jyotishi whose advice was crucial for taking important decisions even for the matters concerning governance and for another important decision making by the kings. Those were the periods when Indian culture, as well as Indian knowledge, soar to great heights. Astrologers and gyanis held immense importance in society. Those were the golden phases of Indian civilization. When invaders attacked India, they also attacked the Indian culture and spiritual heritage of this country. Libraries like that of Nalanda were burnt. We lost many secrets of astrology. However, much knowledge still remains in family traditions and it got carried through word of mouth from one generation to the next. We are in that phase of spiritual transition where we are trying to get back whatever we lost. Many scholars tirelessly work for the revival of Sanatan Dharma and the lost knowledge in it. This requires a strong inclination towards research.
The exposure which I had in the Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan helped me to understand the value of research. We were taught how to use divisional charts as well as verification of one dasa result with some other dasa results as well. We are in the phase where because of the relentless effort of the past generation, we are on the path of retrieval of our spiritual heritage. Still, a lot needs to be done. But we cannot give up as we have to hand over the correct understanding of spirituality and shastra to our generations to come. It is the grace of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi alone which really helps me understand astrological charts and predict with confidence. I generally use astrology as the platform to help people on their spiritual path so as to ensure their spiritual wellbeing.
